Hey Ladies,

I don't know about all of you, but the stress of the office (and life in general) has really been getting to me lately. So, I've decided to be more pro-active and counter those feelings of stress with a few healthier habits and stress relieving techniques.

Check out this link, a well as the links under "Related Articles" at the top of the left hand column.

Midyears

Hi Girls,

I've been working on updating everyone's Job Indicators. I'm trying to make them more consistent between each of the health and wellness positions. Basically what I've done is taken everyone's past Job Indicators, compared the responsiblities and then narrowed it down to the mandatory 20 items.

Each set of Job Indicators now includes the first 15 which are the same for all health and wellness specialists, and a set of five extra that are specifically related to your own position.

I'm basically done and will be putting them in your mailboxes to review. If you find anything that seems "out there" let me know so we can clarify or update.

I will schedule Midyears in the next few weeks, since I skipped appraisals last year, we'll make this a little more indepth so if you have any issues or goals you'd like to discuss, write those down and we can talk about them then.

Recruitment Time Again!

Hey Girls,

I spoke with Kim last week and she asked me to let you know the following information.

January 27th will be Recruitment Training for FCSW's.

This year all forms must be current and up to date prior to this training. No recruiter will be asked or expected to make return trips to homes in order to complete new or updated forms. (this would not pertain to forms that are not completed or are completed incorrectly at an original recruitment visit.)

If a new or updated form is required after a family is recruited, it will have to wait until initial home visit, to be updated at that time.

I hope this gives you enough time to check with your health providers and get what you need. I understand that it's earlier than ever and may be a challenge, but hopefully health providers will be willing to work with us if you explain the need for an earlier recruiting timeframes.

Please direct further questions to Kim or myself.

Mini Management Meeting Reminder

Just a reminder, we have a mini management meeting on Wednesday, September 16th. We'll use the time to get everyone caught up to where we are at this point in the year.

Jackie, could you share a little bit about the new "Y" collaboration, as well as a current list of children with severe food concerns.

Carol and Linda, can you bring an IHP list of who, where and why ~that you've completed so far this year.

Michelle, would you bring a detailed IEP report so that we might all be aware of where the children with more severe disabilities are. If you could include also a list of those kids who don't have an IEP but have a diagnosis, such as the child with albinoism and the child with autism, etc...

Anything else

AWESOME!

Just wanted to say what an awesome job everyone did at Preservice and the various other trainings we've just finished up. I know how much hard work went into getting everything prepared and presented!

Carol, your presentation at IHV training for Northern staff went so smooth. You have really gotten that whole process down, providing staff with clear and concise directions as well as the support and examples they need.

Michelle, you showed so much confidence while presenting to Head Start for the first time. That's always a tough spot, being the "new kid on the block," especially when persenting to staff who have just been your peers, but you handled it with ease! Your powerpoints were clear and you explained the processes well. Next year you'll know all the answers!

Linda, what a blast this summer talking about the era of "peace and love" with you. You helped many a day fly by. During the "health moment" at preservice this year, you really knew your stuff. There was no hesitation in your voice, you presented confidently and explained things so well.

Jackie, "Setting the Table Tone" was a great hit with everyone! And though I wouldn't normally admit it, it was a lot of fun to participate in. Your Nutrition Preservice also Rocked! There was so much important information shared, you provided hands on "fun" activities and while they can be a tough group to present to, the food service workers seemed to really enjoy the training.

Phew! I don't know about anyone else, but I sure have been breathing a sigh of relief now that those fast paced days of preparing and presenting are finally over.

I want to compliment you all on a job well done! I truely think this was one of our best ever training events and it's because of all of our hard work and preparation that went in to it!

It's such an honor to be a part of this team, knowing how hard you all work and how much dedication you have, not just to children and families but to providing staff with the tools they need to make us an Outstanding Program!
